Within the annual international campaign of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the Italian Institute of Culture (IIC) in Nairobi, with the Embassy of Italy in Kenya, are launching the 'Activate Nairobi' campaign: culture, debates and events to advance the conversation on gender-based violence and women empowerment in Kenya.

Panel discussion: Women's Leadership in Climate Action: Strategies and Transformative Solutions
Date: 24/11, 9:30 – 13:30 (luncheon shall be provided on site)
Location: University of Nairobi, Chandaria Hall
How is climate change affecting women empowerment? What strategies and solutions have women leaders identified to contrast climate change? In the iconic Chandaria Hall of the University of Nairobi, participants will be able to listen to 4 inspiring and prominent women sharing their ideas and experiences and will have a chance to get involved in the debate bringing their own perspectives and ideas.
The same questions were asked to Ms. Gaia Squarci, Italian photographer from Cortona On The Move and National Geographic grantee, who flew to Kenya and held a workshop for disadvantaged youngsters from Mathare, Nairobi, in partnership with Mwelu Foundation. Thanks to the Italian organization WeWorld, Ms. Squarci also visited women leaders actively combating climate change. The results of her work will be showcased in the collective exhibition right after the panel discussion. Join us for the vernissage!

Community Advocacy with Survivors

Theatre Exhibition

Gender equality and gender-based violence are topics that should also and above all be promoted among the youngest. The Social Justice Travelling Theatre will perform a show to bring gender issues closer to young students. The performance will be enhanced by the live performance of the young illustrator Ms. Giulia Mezzadri, who will sketch drawings related to the theme of the theatre exhibition.
