The Italian Cooperation promotes opportunities for for-profit cooperation through the selection of innovative entrepreneurial initiatives to be admitted to financing / co-financing and to be implemented in the cooperation partner countries.

Following the last call for business, the following initiatives were awarded:

  1. Agribusiness for the development of rural areas in Kenya - JV ALMA CIS Scarl. The goal of this project is to guarantee rural communities access to electricity, through the installation of mini-grid photovoltaic systems and, at the same time, provide training courses to increase agro-economic skills. The main activities include: the analysis of needs and the organization of the growers involved in a cooperative form; the installation of mini-grid systems; the development of crops with greater added value. To this end, the executing company will create a "Capacity Building" division on site that will train and employ young Kenyan engineers.
  2. Let's green Kenya! - Treedom srl. Treedom is a web platform that allows its users to plant a tree remotely and follow it online, offering small farmers all over the world direct social and economic benefits. The business model envisages direct financing of producer cooperatives to carry out the tree planting and maintenance service, following a specific code of conduct called Treedom Standard.
