Rimini (Italy), January 17th, 2025 – Kenyan coffee, renowned worldwide for its exceptional quality, will once again take the stage at the 2025 edition of the International Trade Show for Artisan Gelato, Pastry, Bakery, and Coffee (SIGEP) in Rimini, Italy. Thanks to the support of the Italian Cooperation through the “ARABIKA” initiative, seven representatives from Kenyan coffee producer cooperatives will participate in this prestigious international event to strengthen commercial ties with Italian and global operators.
Since 2021, ARABIKA, a project supported by Italy through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), has been supporting smallholder coffee producers in Kenya. The participation of Kenyan cooperatives at SIGEP 2025 will feature various initiatives to promote the unique qualities of the local coffee and foster strategic collaborations. These include a visit to a roasting facility near Bologna, where Kenyan farmers will gain insight into Italian technologies and industry standards.
Two special events are also planned during the fair: a guided cupping session on January 20th, from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM at the “Sustainability District” showcasing origin labels developed with Italian support, and a high-level event focusing on Italy’s collaboration with partner countries on January 21st, from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the “Vision Plaza.” The event will feature Marco Riccardo Rusconi, Director of AICS; Lorenzo Galanti, Director of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE/ITA); and Anthony Muriithi, agricultural attaché at the Embassy of Kenya in Rome.
